PART-TIME SEASONAL Public Works Employee – There are 2 positions available. 19 hours maximum per week. The City of Wendell is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, individual for our Public Works Department. The primary function of this employee will be to assist the department by performing various duties as assigned. Work is performed under the direction of the Public Works Director, or the Mayor . These duties are performed in a shop and in the outdoor environment and will involve inclement weather and potential hazards. .

Required Experience and Training

16+ years old, or if out of school, High School diploma or GED equivalency required.

Other Qualifications

A valid Idaho Driver’s License preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To assist the Public Works department by performing various duties as assigned.

Essential Physical Abilities

• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern and provide verbal instructions, discern equipment warning sounds and alarms, and communicate effectively in person;
• Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to review and comprehend written work instructions and work orders;
• Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate work related equipment;
• Sufficient body mobility, flexibility, and balance to work in an office environment and perform occasional field visits to construction sites and treatment plant facilities. Jobs in this class require performing repetitive motions in fingering and hand/wrist/arm movements and standing for four or more hours at a time. Related job tasks may require, with or without reasonable accommodation, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally, and crawling, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching and reaching.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary range for the position is $15.00 - $16.00 per hour. Salary will be determined based on applicant’s education, qualifications, and experience.
