Position: Accounting Assistant
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Location: Farmingdale, New York
Airport: Republic Airport
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for record keeping, revenue collection and reporting, invoicing and other tasks related to Accounts Receivable.
Specific responsibilities for the Accounting Assistant will include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining landing fee billing system.
- Participation in the preparation and distribution of billing for all other business activity fees.
- Preparation and distribution of checks for payment of invoices.
- Review and research of Accounts Payable.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and statements.
- Undertake all collection efforts.
- Maintenance of files of source documentation.
- Preparation of month end bank reconciliation.
- Participation in the “Total Quality Management” efforts.
- Participation in the OSHA programs when required.
- Performing other accounting functions and related duties as necessary.
Skills and qualifications:
Must have knowledge of accounting systems, knowledge of Great Plains desirable and be able to learn in house programs.- Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize programs such as MS Excel and MS Word.
- College degree in Accounting/Business/Aviation Management with a minimum of two years relevant experience.
- Demonstrate ability to handle problems associated with accounting operations, preparation of account analysis, financial statements and reports.
- Must be professional and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in and support a teamwork environment.
- Must pass drug test and complete New York State Support Staff fingerprinting process.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
