GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) seeks an Accountant to perform professional account, planning, and analysis requiring judgment in applying established accounting procedures and regulations.

Ensures internal control of work unit or division.
- Resolves problems and questions regarding work methods and processes presented by co-workers.
- Researches and analyzes data.
- Prepares, analyzes, and interprets fiscal information and may carry out special studies.
- Recommends fiscal policy and methods for improving operations.
- Participates in agency planning for the next budget period by researching and compiling data utilized in agency budget preparation.
- Maintains fixed assets and non-fixed asset information.
- Performs various routine tasks in the acquisition, disbursement, and inventory of equipment, supplies, and commodities.
- Responsible for accounting functions: including deposits, wire transfers, completing daily spreadsheets, and balancing bank accounts.
- Determines and corrects out-of-balance conditions.
- Ensures statutory compliance by internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and Word, the Wyoming Online Financial System (WOLFS).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*

Education:*
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accounting Technician
