Job Summary: Responsible for performing didactic instructions at Tulsa Technology Center (TTC), as well as clinical instruction/supervision at Saint Francis Health System (SFHS).

Education: Associate’s degree from a vocational or technical school in field of surgical technology. Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Graduate of Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited surgical technology program. Certification as a Surgical Technologist through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of current experience practicing as a surgical technologist in the operating room or in a scrub role and/or an instructor in a surgical technology program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated expertise in surgical technology knowledge and clinical practice. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts and demonstrate technical skills to students. Ability to stay focused during prolonged periods of stress. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and LMS Blackboard Ultra.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Teaches courses in a classroom, laboratory or clinical setting that fulfill TCC’s current curriculum goals and standards of instruction. Assists in the implementation and evaluation of the curriculum. Provides professional academic advisement/mentoring/counseling to students. Evaluates student's achievement and progress according to the standards and procedures established. Performs surgical technologist responsibilities in the operating room, as needed. Collaborate and communicate with facility leaders at TTC and SFHS. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory bodies' guidelines, along with internal policies of the company.

Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from the supervisor.

Working Relationship: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.

Special Job Dimensions: The adjunct faculty member must meet all employment criteria of Tulsa Technology Center (TTC).
