JOB MISSION:
New Balance’s Adv. Capability Technician will take a hands-on role in supporting the efforts of, both, the Commercialization of New Styles, and the Development & Implementation of New Technologies. As such, they will be working collaboratively with Design, Development, and Engineering functions to Develop, Create and Trial Tooling and Manufacturing Processes that are safe, repeatable, and cost effective.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Uses computer-based CAD equipment and manual methods to prepare, layout and modify detail drawings, using own design concepts or those of other designers. Performs all calculations to determine and define dimensions, tolerances, and other specifications.
  • Prepares and sends requests for bids to tool fabrication suppliers. Analyzes the capabilities of tool design/fabrication suppliers, assess pricing, recommends the most appropriate suppliers, and assists in negotiating agreements. Monitors the performance of suppliers to ensure satisfactory performance.
  • Conduct engineering tests, detailed experimental testing, and analyze results.
  • Provide recommendations of Process Improvements based on Engineering Test Results and Experience.
  • Throughout project implementation process, ensures training of manufacturing staff is completed properly, that proper documentation is provided and troubleshoots issues as they arise until the process is running smoothly.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
  • 3+ years relevant experience in footwear product creation and/or product manufacturing
  • Tooling Design & Implementation Experience is a MUST
  • Experience in new product introduction and continuous process improvements
  • Strong action orientation to achieve deadlines and business results
  • Ability to Travel between all Domestic NB Facilities
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
  • Expert Level user in 2D/3D CAD (Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc)

Flexible Work Schedule
