General Description: Provide academic support to students grades 6-12 after school in a wide-range of subject areas.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide academic support on homework and study/organizational skills.
- Maintain professional learning environment for students
- Teacher or paraeducator certification
- Proficient in Spanish language
- A helpful, calm, friendly, and polite manner when interacting with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ability to make reasoned decisions.
- Appropriate discretion concerning student and family confidentiality and privileged information.
- Knowledge of Spanish language
- Previous experience working in a school setting or a youth support program.
- Excellent oral and written skills and strong active listening skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and district-adopted software.
- Availability to work 1.5 hours per week after school
- Use a computer for multiple functions.
- Bends, twists, and lifts up to 20 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to high decibel alarm systems during drills or actual emergencies.
- Use a telephone to communicate.
- Flexibility in schedule.
