Position Summary:

This position is responsible for repairing, altering and sizing all employee uniforms.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:

• Measures employees to determine proper size and to ensure proper fit of uniforms
• Sews or reconstructs garments using needles and thread or sewing machines
• May press uniforms and/or clean spots from garments

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists employees at the counter and ensures accurate and timely completion of all transactions
• Assists in the day bag issuance and retrievals
• Assists in keeping the stockroom orderly

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

• Two years of experience in alterations
• Previous seamstress or tailoring skills

Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:

• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to take and record accurate measurements and complete alterations in a timely manner

Training Requirements:

• Knowledge of sewing machines and the ability to make routine repairs (i.e. replacing needles, checking oils, etc.)

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Office work environment
• Must be able to stand, sit, bend and reach for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
