Job Description Summary
The Department of Athletics at Bloomsburg invites applications for two tenure track faculty Assistant Athletic Trainers. Anticipated start date is on or about July 15, 2023.
Bloomsburg is a NCAA Division II Institution with 23 varsity sports programs (wrestling is an NCAA Division I program) as part of Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania.
We seek dedicated individuals to be a part of a team who can provide strong leadership, and a high level of service and care to our student-athletes.
These non-teaching tenure-track faculty are members of the Department of Athletics Faculty that report directly to the Director of Athletics. Salary is very competitive, at an Instructor I to Instructor 3 level, and includes an attractive benefit package.

Essential Duties
Specific Duties
Responsibilities include: diagnose and rehabilitate athletic injuries; supervise and educate work study students; shared responsibility for athletic training room including inventory, budgeting, staff development, NCAA rules knowledge and drug testing experience, and record keeping; provide practice/game coverage. These positions will require modest travel. Non-traditional and evening hours are primary and required, with staff rotations.
Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Earned Master’s degree by date of appointment (July 15, 2023)
- NATA Certification
- Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility
- PR/CPR and/or ECC Certification
- Knowledge of and experience with NCAA rules
- Prior experience working with a diverse population of college student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in an intercollegiate environment
- Working with insurance billing and claims
- Working with contact sports

Recommendation for hiring is needed from a majority of the regular, full-time department faculty.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and criminal background.
Filling these positions is contingent upon available funding.
Background Clearances
In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Checks.
Appointment is provisional provided the “Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form” and verification of your three background checks are returned to the Human Resource office prior to your hire date.
