This employee will perform entry-level purchasing functions and assist other purchasing employees in the efficient procurement of meat products. You will learn how purchasing and pricing are handled through different buying cycles and market conditions. This position will be seated in the Corporate Headquarters in Carteret, NJ.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting the buying lead in processing procurement documents
  • Managing pre order purchases and inventory
  • Learning the SAP software currently deployed by the company
  • Preparing confidential information, i.e., price lists, inventories
  • Covering for buying lead while on PTO
  • Understanding and contributing to the Porky culture
  • Communicating and developing relationships with sales team and vendors
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
  • Strong clerical skills including computing skills and a moderate proficiency in the Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be reliable and be available to work early morning schedules
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
  • One year of clerical experience in a purchasing or business-related environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of meat related products
  • Two (2) years of purchasing experience
  • Experience using SAP Information Systems
