Position Summary:
The right candidate for this job will be a technology-oriented person with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills who has a desire to continuously develop their own skills and receives satisfaction in helping others. This position will have various responsibilities that are primarily themed on expertise with Direct Digital Control Systems and Building Automation Systems. Tasks performed would include assisting the UEP group in designing and programming DDC and BAS projects, primarily out of our Cedar Knolls office. This job requires CAD proficiency. Essential to performing these tasks well is a character of high integrity who is self-motivated and who wants to be a contributing member of a team while also being capable of working independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review HVAC/Mechanical plans, specifications and equipment submittals and determine control system components selection needed to provide a complete and operable system that will satisfy control of HVAC equipment as per specified sequence of operations and serve as a user interface for facility operators.
- Survey a building site or site information provided from a customer and using our product offering to develop design-build solutions that will satisfy a customer’s needs or requests while providing optimal energy efficiency.
- Create control system wiring diagrams using AutoCAD and assemble diagrams, schedules, sequence of operations and product documentation into a controls submittal.
- Prioritize workload and requests to ensure customer satisfaction is delivered.
- Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role through attending manufacturer sponsored training courses as well as performing independent practice and research.

- Other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- Engineering experience required (at least 1 year), Degree not required but a plus
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment, parts and system operation such as rooftop air conditioning units, air handling systems, variable air volume (VAV) terminal units, heat pumps, water pumps, variable frequency drives, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, heat exchangers, variable refrigerant systems (VRF/VRV), etc.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings including; wiring diagrams, mechanical plans (piping and ductwork schematics), electrical plans, project design specifications, and sequences of operation.
- Knowledge of electrical circuits and fundamental laws of electricity.
- Has understanding of the following network communication protocols; Ethernet TCP/IP, BACnet, Lonworks, Metasys N2 and Modbus. equipment configuration, and wiring
- Knowledge of IT networking basics.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and similar standard business software applications.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Willing to self-educate to expand on training received, explore alternative solutions and practice to improve skills beneficial to the duties of the position.
- Analytical approach to problem solving and an aptitude for suggesting value engineering solutions.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, training, and technical writing skills.
- Must work well with others and carry a positive attitude
- Capable of handling multiple requests and assignments in a fast paced environment.
- Team oriented as well as self-motivated.
