- Must have or obtain State and NCLB Approved Paraprofessional designation in accordance with Illinois State Board of Education requirements
- Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and communicate clearly and distinctly with students, staff, parents and visitors and the public
- Must have knowledge and experience with up-to-date computer systems
- Must complete district approved crisis intervention program
- Must assemble and organize data and prepare reports from records
- Must organize and prioritize workflow
- Must keyboard and perform data entry data accurately and efficiently
- Must move frequently from workstation to counter, classrooms and other areas throughout the building
- Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff and parents, as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude
- Working closely with school staff to identify early attendance issues
- Consulting with parents, students, and staff when irregular attendance patterns begin to emerge
- Assisting in directing parents to school based personnel or community based resources
- Working in closely coordinated efforts with members of the school problem solving team including teachers, administrators, nurse, counselors, and school psychologist
- Serving on PBIS Tier One and Two Committees, specifically addressing attendance
- Maintaining daily attendance records, retrieving data from the student information system
- Performing various clerical tasks
- Keeping records/notes and logging intervention data
- Coordinating/scheduling meetings with parents, students, and staff
- Implementing attendance plans created by certified staff or administrators
- Contacting students in the morning before school
- Escorting students to class to ensure attendance
- Monitoring attendance of students enrolled in the Harper Promise program
- Assisting Student Services staff in meetings with students in a small group format to address barriers to attendance

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
:
This is specialized clerical work involving data entry, tabulation and maintenance of daily student attendance records as well as performing a variety of duties for the Dean. There is extensive contact with students, staff and parents, which requires the ability to deal with people in a courteous and tactful manner. There is daily contact with the public. While working within clearly established systems and procedures, an employee in this position is expected to maintain confidentiality, have a general knowledge of school operations and exercise some independence in performance of routine matters.
