- Promote and support the BCCHS Career Academies implementation by providing expertise by properly researching, establishing plans, and facilitating implementation plans related to BCCHS Career Academies.
- Plan, coordinate, implement and ensure participation of experiential learning for all academies, including but not limited to career exploration fair, college visits, guest speakers, industry-related field trips, job shadows, student internships and teacher externships.
- Coordinate and align work with NCAC accreditation to earn and maintain accreditation status, working towards “model” status.
- Completion of all Career Academy related reports in order to analyze Career Academy data results and present to the School District’s key stakeholders.
- Make recommendations for long-term adjustments, changes, additions and deletions in the BCCHS career pathways and CTE to meet changing job trends and needs.
- Ensure development of CTE completion opportunities for BCCHS students in each of the eight BCCHS career pathways
- Business/Community Partnerships
- Build and fosters relationships with community agencies to create, promote and maintain partnerships for the Career Academies, as well as attends community networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Convening Organization’s Community Engagement Specialist to build strong relationships with and engage the businesses and organizations of Battle Creek with BCCHS Career Academies.
- Support development and maintenance of the BCCHS Career Academies Council and advisory boards for each academy.
- Work in partnership with those supporting workforce development to help improve qualifications of the local workforce and remove barriers to employment.
- Serve as a liaison to Career and Technical lead faculty, BCAMSC, CACC, KCC, and community partners to provide accurate information and assistance.
- Teach, model, and support teachers to implement research-based best practices within the school’s instructional program by utilizing the “teaching through the lens” approach of the Academy. ? Collaborate with teachers to help them learn to more efficiently identify the instructional needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students.
- Assist teachers with the collection and analysis of academy data (including academy enrollment, experiential learning, industry certifications, academy related dual credit / dual enrollment, attendance, and graduation rate, among others) results and facilitates data conversations with teachers.
- Implement regular coaching cycles that provide regular, consistent and individualized feedback ? Collaborate with the principal to help identify areas of need for the school’s professional development plan, structure related coaching, and identify specific, measurable and attainable benchmarks for teacher and student performance
- On-board new teachers and school staff to the Pathways model through continuous professional development on best practices in instruction through the lens of the Academy Pathway ? Develop and facilitate professional learning experiences for faculty as guided by the Program Model for Career Academies
- Attends leadership meetings to provide support for implementation of and sustainable career academies to increase student attendance, reduce student discipline, improve student achievement, and increase graduation rates.
- Provide curriculum training to teachers and staff
- Assure correlation between district curriculum and state standards.
- Monitors implementation of curriculum and assessments
- Support and facilitate updates of the curriculum
- Recognize needs and make recommendations for appropriate instructional materials and assessments that directly support and align to the district curriculum
- Develop and revise curriculum for district-approved courses and the implementation of the Pathways model
- Ensure teachers of Freshman Seminar, Senior Capstone and Career Connections understand curriculum and implement according to district expectations
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for instructional staff and collaborate to build a positive building and district culture
- Meet regularly with PLC teams and the principal to support the continuing development of research-based instructional practices and progress while also assisting in planning “next steps” for student and school improvement.
- Lead and participate in all school-based teams as directed, including Instructional Leadership Teams, Professional Learning Communities, Student Success Teams, Positive School Experience Teams, etc. Other Functions
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring a positive, efficient and effective work environment
- Knowledge of basic computer technology: Microsoft Office, Google Office Suite, Adobe. ? Ability to effectively express ideas verbally and in written form.
- Ability to make effective oral presentations before large groups of people.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments. ? Ability to interpret data and identify performance gaps.
- Ability to flex schedule to support teachers and district needs.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education
- Michigan Teacher Certification
- Minimum 3 years of successful teaching experience in the Career Academies model and/or CTE Education preferred
- Experience with district-level curriculum development
- Training and successful implementation of Project-Based Learning experiences
- Strong knowledge of Career Academies systems and structures
