Provides critically complex research and experimentation for department/s allowing the advancement of scientific analysis and discovery. Serves as a subject matter expert offering support, training and guidance relative to the discipline/area. May participate and/or present on the research developed, or the established work of those within the department.A Bioinformatics position is available in the lab of Dr. Sabine Dietmann at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. We create innovative computational approaches for multi-omics single-cell data analysis and analysis of RNA modifications by nanopore direct RNA sequencing. Our lab is affiliated with the AI community at the Institute of Informatics, and we use convolutional and graph neural networks. We also collaborate with experimentalists and engineers on human blastoids and embryoids, aging and Alzheimer’s disease (https://profiles.wustl.edu/en/persons/sabine-dietmann).
We are seeking talented candidates with high proficiency in scientific programming languages, such as R and Python. A good understanding of machine learning frameworks in Python (Keras and PyTorch), experience with creating R packages, github and web repositories, and some background in single cell data analysis, epigenetics, or RNA modifications would be very beneficial for this research.

Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements: Algorithms and computer software for analyzing omics-based data sets [high-throughput, massively parallel genomic/proteomic/clinical]; data management and analysis solutions that aid in the storage, investigation, and dissemination of large data sets.
- Coordinates research project with other investigators and institutions.
- Participates in developing hypotheses and experimental design.
- Assists with reporting of methods, data, and results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. or master’s degree in Biology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Physics or related field plus demonstrated relevant research experience.
- Analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of computational biology.
- Ability to analyze and interpret large complex data sets, such as genome sequencing, microarray gene expression studies, human genetic studies, and model organism studies, and to communicate data in a clear, concise manner.
- Expertise in standard bioinformatics tools.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field plus two years of experience; OR master’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field; OR combined education and experience of seven years.

$40,100.00 - $72,700.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
