Position Summary:

Provide the highest standards of customer service and accurately and efficiently balances daily cash and non-cash store functions as well as store sales. Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Essential Functions:

 Promote trust and respect among associates.

 Model excellent customer service, demonstrating friendliness.

 Maintain a clean and orderly department.

 Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the store and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.

 Understand the Point of Sale system, and how to handle various tenders, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy.

 Understand and adhere to the company's cash handling procedures and work honestly and effectively to control loss.

 Observe scheduled shift operating hours.

 Use the store systems to properly balance all store register tills; research all discrepancies; collect all coupons, store charges, checks and other miscellaneous monetary drafts and sends them to their applicable accounting location.

 Accurately prepare and complete all deposits, both cash and checks in a timely manner with great accuracy.

 Keep open line of communication with store management on a daily basis of any and all issues relating to proper record keeping or cash handling.

 Follow and support all company and federal cash handling, anti-money laundering compliance.

 Accurately order, secure and manage all store cash.

 Perform cash and till audits according to company policy.

 Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.

 Notify management of customer or employee accidents.

 Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.

 Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.

 Ensure that all current customer service, cash control, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, associate and customer engagement rules are being followed.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

 Having successfully completed bookkeeper training

 Prior cash handling experience

 Ability to handle stressful situations

 Effective communication skills

 Basic computer skills

 Knowledge of basic math: counting, addition, and subtraction

 Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position

 Must be 18 or older

Desired Previous Job Experience:

 High school diploma or equivalent

 Previous experience as checker, customer service manager, or customer service booth clerk

 Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing

Physical Demands:

 Lifting up to 50# from 12” to waist throughout shift.

 Objects lifted using both hands may include, case product, dog food, bags of salt, fruit and supplies.

 May carry bags of groceries, cleaning supplies and other store items.

 Reaching at arm’s length throughout shift.

 Rotation of trunk in all directions throughout shift.

 Forward bending throughout shift.

 Wrist position of neutral, palm up and palm down throughout shift.

 Constantly standing and walking on concrete, mats, and carpet throughout shift.

 Squatting throughout shift.

 Occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling throughout shift.

 Using hands to finger, handle and/or feel objects, tools or controls.  Climbing stairs, step stools, and step ladders.

Tools and Equipment Use

Cash registers, carts, tills, computers, tender bags, grocery bags, intercom system, pens, scanner, printer, fax machine, EFT machine, cash, coins, six wheelers, office machines and telephone.

Work Surface

Check stands, tile floors and mats

Length of Work Day/Week

Up to 8 hours with breaks at 2-hour intervals. Approximate workweek of 40 hours.
