Purpose/Introduction
The Commercial Organization plays a key role in developing and executing CPChem’s strategy and business plans. Commercial coordinates with Manufacturing and Technology to develop optimal sales and operating plans, grow our asset capabilities and plan for the future. They identify and evaluate business opportunities, execute the supply chain, build customer and supplier relationships and work to continuously improve our offerings to provide increased value for our customers and shareholders.
The Specialty Chemicals and Drilling Business Analyst is a key player in the development of the product line’s strategic vision and evaluating and implementing the tactics used to carry out the strategy.
The position’s scope covers Specialty Chemicals and Drilling Specialties.
The Business Analyst position is located at Headquarters in The Woodlands, TX and reports to the Specialty Chemicals Business Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of the annual strategic plan, operating budget, sales forecasts, and in the development of internal and external presentations
- Perform monthly tracking of the business performance metrics against the strategic plan and operating budget
- Perform monthly profitability analysis of Specialty Chemicals and Drilling Specialties businesses
- Perform product profitability analysis, pricing analysis, customer analysis, cost-to-serve analysis, competitor analysis, and other commercial analyses to support the business on a global basis
- Contribute to or lead a variety of cost analyses such as controllable costs, performance metrics, and monthly performance summary reports
- Provide analytical support as requested by other business team members. Include a variety of economic studies and analysis with modeling of commercial deals, economic analysis around plant operating scenarios, and evaluation support for new business development and project efforts
- Prepare various presentations to support the Specialty Chemicals and Drilling Specialties General Managers, Business Managers, Product Managers, and sales organizations
- Prepare and present weekly summaries for production, sales and inventory by region
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in engineering or other technical field preferred.
- 4 years or more related industry experience
- Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and have the demonstrated ability to communicate with employees at all organizational levels; be an innovative and out-of-the box thinker with strong initiative
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power BI and SAP and level of proficiency with the use of Pivot Tables. Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
