Position: Business Development

Job Brief:

The Business Development role will research and develop various marketing strategies for products and services. This role will conduct prospect research, gauge competitive positioning, network and form strategic partnerships to grow Control Tech, while successfully maintaining the current customer base.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contributes information, ideas, and research to help develop marketing strategies.
  • Develops sales and marketing plans for each product or service being offered.
  • Identifies and qualifies sales leads.
  • Motivate new and existing clients by establishing and enhancing proposals.
  • Appraise business opportunities and formulate strategies to obtain venture capital.
  • Keep up to date on company best practices, programs, products, pricing, and promotions.
  • Identifies potential clients and builds a relationship with them through phone calls, emails and face-to-face meetings.
  • Provide information to customers regarding Control Tech s product and service benefits to create a competitive advantage.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with clients through superior customer service.
  • Creates and engages in post-sale activities such as follow up communication with customers to ensure satisfaction with products or services.
  • Analyses trends, data, demographics, pricing strategies, and other information that can potentially improve marketing and sales performance.
  • Creates and presents regular performance reports for managers and executives.
  • Work together with company executives to differentiate the most viable, cost-effective strategy to pursue fresh business opportunities.
  • Attends trade shows and travels to meet clients as needed.
  • Maintains records of expense and strictly manages budgetary expenses.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to communicate to senior leadership.
  • Persuasive communication skills with the ability to convince others to agree with your ideas, actions, products and or services.
  • Must possess strong work ethics.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the Oil and Gas, Instrumentation and Electrical industries.
  • Superior Control Tech product and services knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A positive and proactive approach towards solving problems and meeting challenges.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems or related software.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years industry experience.
  • Experience in sales and marketing.
  • Knowledge of the local community and markets.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Possess a valid driver s license.
  • Travel is required and could be 30% of the position time.

Education:

  • Bachelor s Degree preferred (Business, Marketing) or equivalent work experience in similar role.
  • Post-Secondary Technical graduate in Engineering or College degree in Instrumentation, Controls and Automation or related field is an asset.
