Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Office of Extended Studies (OES) Business Manager provides daily administrative, financial, and analytical support for OES Summer and Winter sessions; Freshmen Connection, OES-Shady Grove, OES-Southern Maryland, Graduate, and Post Baccalaureate Programs, Massive Open Online Courses, Open Learning non-credit programs, and Executive Education credit and non-credit programs.

This position supports various activities, including but not limited to budgeting, contracts, accounting, procurement, human resources, financial reporting, and other activities related to the administrative and financial aspects, and complies with OES and the University guidelines.

The Business Manager is assigned a specific portfolio of colleges and departments and works closely with various individual levels, from coordinators to directors. The individual will work closely with the OES finance team, colleges, and departments. Additionally, they will work with Student and Financial Services and Cashiering (SFSC), the Department of Information Technology (DIT), and the Department of Transportation Services (DOTS).

A successful candidate must be enthusiastic, positive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and team-oriented and has experience taking the initiative to complete tasks. Excellent communication and computer skills are essential to this position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
Three to five (3-5) years of experience utilizing accounting and financial procedures and systems.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Proficiency in using word processing, database, and spreadsheet (EXCEL) software is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively.
  • Must be detail-oriented and can effectively prioritize and manage multiple complex assignments and projects within specific timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal and client relations skills are required.
  • Desire to work within a team-oriented environment is expected.
