SUMMARY: The Business Relationship Specialist is responsible for meeting or exceeding business sales objectives in assigned territory. Collaborates with assigned branches and business partners to identify, engage, win and expand business and municipal relationships in territory served.

- Acts as a relationship specialist for small businesses, individuals and centers of influence; responsible for developing deposits, merchant, credit cards investments and cash management services. Personal development of skills to grow, maintain and manage a lending portfolio while achieving credit soundness and quality for NSB.
- Collaborates with branches to develop tactics to identify and refer prospects for business products and services, marketing and Work Place Banking opportunities.
- Support Branch Managers and Personal Bankers to build skill and confidence in identifying business referral opportunities, which includes Merchant, Credit Card and Treasury Solutions, and Treasury Analytics.
- Coordinates the introduction of Business Bankers, Treasury Solutions and other subject matter experts to ensure that comprehensive proposals are developed that address client needs.
- Develops, with assistance, proposals that will be presented to business owners and decision-makers.
- Uses Bank’s processes to identify, engage, win and service new and existing clients.
- Accurately reports individual activity and results.
- Maintains complete and accurate client records.
- Develop, with assistance, a personal business plan complete with strategies and tactics necessary to achieve assigned objectives; completes revisions as necessary to adjust to changing market conditions.
- Assesses product offerings, pricing, service levels and marketing relative to competitors and provides market intelligence to Business Partners.
- Actively networks to develop and maintain relationships with community and business organizations and leaders.
- Participates in community involvement efforts.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School education required – Bachelor’s Degree in related business field from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Some direct business to business sales experience required with a background in relationship management and portfolio development a plus.
- Must have thorough knowledge of financial concepts, a basic understanding of financial statements and experience with business credit principles.
- Must have basic proficiency in the use of desktop automation tools.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent written and verbal presentation skills; must be an effective listener and be able to accurately collect and analyze complex information.
