We are looking for a Buyer / Planner to join a leading manufacturer in the west valley. As a Buyer, you will manage the purchasing, forecasting, and inventory management of raw materials. The Buyer will work in teams to drive profitability through efficient sourcing and warehouse space usage. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Quote, purchase and expedite specified commodities from supplies.
- Responsible for managing PO purchases. Responsible for correct product conversion measurements together with using advanced analytical skills pertaining to each purchase order requirement.
- Partner with vendor and product teams to develop an integrated supply chain solution.
- Proactively identify and support production work order requirements to minimize production delays due to materials shortages and reduce costs.
- Plans purchases by reviewing materials and supplies requirements from business system report contracts, and change orders.
- Obtains quotes by forwarding materials and supplies requirements to suppliers, and evaluating alternative materials and supplies.
- Assures detailed bid and proposal packages are maintained. Resolves delivery discrepancies by comparing purchase orders to delivery documentation, obtaining credits and refunds.
- Improve purchasing metrics by analyzing materials, supplies, and vendor reliability, quality, and service, recommending changes.
- Reduce costs by evaluating alternative materials and supplies, and negotiating pricing and terms.
- Provide management planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Able to work in development and new product environment. Ability to match requirements to supplier capabilities.
- Other requirements as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in any related field of discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum (5) years of experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment. (AEROSPACE, NUCLEAR, INDUSTRIAL, METAL, MEDICAL, ETC).
- Experience with OEM and/or Distributors is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills e.g., forecasting, SME with SRM, JIT, supplier scorecards
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems PREFERRED.
- Epicor ERP experience is a PLUS
- Disciplined in Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
- Well-versed in OSHA/SAFETY manufacturing requirements.
