Program Summary

Open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with pre and post-camp extension

options, the JCC Day Camp offers premium summer programs infused with Jewish values and culture

from Kindergarten through high school.

Located on the Longmeadow/Springfield line, Camp JCC is easily accessible for CT and MA

residents. Camp JCC is located on 20 acres of beautiful grounds with basketball and tennis courts, a

playground, athletic fields, woods, a high and low ropes course, a zip line, a picnic grove, a pavilion, and

more. Additionally, its air-conditioned indoor facility boasts rock climbing, a fitness center, a stage, an

arts and crafts studio, and more.

With the encouragement and guidance of our highly-skilled staff, campers participate in programs

and activities that have been designed to foster learning, growth, creativity, teamwork, and above all,

safe fun. Instruction from our arts and crafts, music, nature, ropes course, and sports specialists will help

them discover their hidden talents. Whether making new friends or developing new skills, JCC campers

will experience their best summer ever!


Position Summary

Inclusion is one of the core values of the Springfield JCC and must be at the forefront of

everything that we do. The inclusion camp program helps to integrate children with additional needs into

the camp day, allowing them many opportunities that might not otherwise be available. Camper Support

Specialists provide additional support to campers with special needs (often but not always 1:1), within

their camp group, to ensure a successful camp experience. Camper Support Specialists may provide

social, emotional, and/or behavioral support throughout the camp day.


Requirements

  • Applicants should have a minimum of 1 year of experience working with children with special

needs in a structured setting. in a structured setting. Prior experience in summer camps is

preferred.

  • Have prior knowledge or interest in working with children with special needs (specific training will

be provided when needed)

  • Must enjoy working with children and be active as well as adaptable to change.
  • Applicants must be prepared to work in a professional environment and must be dependable.
  • Must show strong leadership skills, enjoy working in a team setting, and have the desire to build

relationships with children, parents, peers, and co-workers.

  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must be a team player and a strong communicator.
  • Must be comfortable assisting campers with personal care routines such as toileting and

changing

  • Must be able to ask for help when needed and accept constructive criticism
  • Must be at least 16 years old


Pay Scale

Pay scale is dependent on the successful applicant’s prior experience, and tenure with the J.
