The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. Job Description
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Supervisor for the Carpentry team!
Although technical skills and knowledge are essential, we are looking for a motivated and articulate carpentry professional to run a dynamic and fast paced work group. This role requires drive, determination, and a high level of self-discipline to ensure successful project execution is accomplished. Our ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment that focuses on technical problem solving, collaboration with a wide variety of team members, and structured work products. To be successful in this role, you will need to be comfortable supporting different projects simultaneously with little oversight. While 8+ years of experience in professional carpentry and construction management is preferred, our ideal candidate is a confident team player who develops trust across stakeholders ...is a clear communicator and facilitator ... and demonstrates a high degree of critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities:
- Will manage multiple aggressive and craft and routine facilities work schedules and responses.
- Routinely organize, prioritize, and dispatch work plans to the organization.
- Maintain a robust Procurement Program and Government Purchase Card.
- Additionally, the Operations and Maintenance division is considered essential to site operations, the candidate is expected to be available on weekends evenings and holidays.
- Qualify as a Production Contamination Supervisor, provide job coverage and support for various work groups during asbestos removal and abatement.
- Responsible to develop and support subordinates during routine and scheduled safety and various corporate training evolutions.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Associates degree from an accredited college or university or;
High school diploma or equivalent with specific technical competency in the job and a minimum of three years of leadership experience
Also required:
- Completed an approved, certified apprenticeship program resulting in the qualification of Journeyman Carpenter
- Must have proficient computer skills and familiarity working in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel ect.) and others as applicable.
Preferred Skills
- Previous Carpentry foreman experience
- Associates degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from and accredited college or university and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in technical, engineering, or science-related discipline from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Confined Space
- Lift Operator
- Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
- Elevated Worker Certified
