The Our House Residential Care Facility (RCF) is a team of expert clinicians who work with people living with HIV who are having difficulty managing independent living. By tailoring nursing, social work, and therapeutic everyday activities our clients and residents are able to define what ‘living well’ means to them.

Our House of Portland is excited to announce that we are hiring an experienced Certified Recovery Mentor. The Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) provides recovery assistance services to individuals enrolled in the Neighborhood Housing and Care Program who have been identified as needing substance use disorder supports. The CRM will assist clients in navigating a wide variety of challenges to their recovery. This position works to identify substance use support needs, develop individualized service plans, connect individuals to resources, promote greater independence, community integration, and supports recovery. This position will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary NCHP team to provide the best support possible to our clients and program.

This full-time (1.0FTE) position reports to the Neighborhood Housing and Care Program (NHCP) Manager. This position is stationed in CAP’s Our House location. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

NOTE: This is a non-management, union-represented position. The compensation, benefits, and conditions of work for this position are collectively bargained.

COMPENSATION: $22.50 hourly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or a GED.
  • Community engagement experience
  • CADC credential.
  • Attainment of Peer Recovery Mentor Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • A valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and the ability to be insured by Our House automobile insurance.
  • Ability to pass DHS (Department of Human Services) background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CADC ll credentials.
  • A working knowledge of the local drug and alcohol treatment system.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the recovery community.
  • A strong understanding of the stages of change and the ability to work with a person specific to their needs and interests.
  • Understanding of and respect for individual and unique paths to recovery.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships across a multicultural spectrum of organizations and professionals, including community partners and funders.
  • Successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic, and sexually diverse populations, persons who have experienced homelessness, and persons with a mental illness and/or substance use issues.
  • A strong understanding of issues relevant to people living with HIV, communities of color, and the LBGTQ+ community and how those issues affect or influence service delivery
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace or community settings.
  • Desire and ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to: engaging in training workshops, team and department meetings, and critical discussions for how CAP can better support the communities that we serve.
  • Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and/or people with disabilities, chronic illness and/or other barriers to employment.

CAP cares about the safety of our team members and clients.
