Pratt Industries - a sustainable packaging company - is looking for a Chemist with Paper Mill experience to join the Conyers Paper Mill team!

The Mill Biochemist works alongside the production team in order to maximize safety, quality and production. The Mill Chemist, Bio Chemist, and their Assistants are directly responsible for the management of all chemical systems.

Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

• Maintaining safety standards in the chemical areas
• Maintaining chemical inventories
• Maintaining chemical delivery systems and spares
• Determining, reporting and optimizing chemical costs
• Designing and running trials
• Designing and installing new chemical equipment
• Managing the day-to-day operations of the biocide and water systems
• Testing stock/water system and adjusting chemical programs

Education and Experience

• Education: four (4) year degree in Pulp and Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: two (2) years of Paper Mill experience or Chemical Technical Service.
  • Prior management of a Paper Mill Biocide program is preferred.

• The employee is occasionally required to sit
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• This position will require working an on-call rotation schedule within the chemical department

Work Environment

65% of all work will be on the production floor in a hot environment. As this is a production environment with multiple motors this will be a high noise environment. Hearing protection is required.

This position will require working with hazardous chemicals on a daily basis.
