General

The Chief Executive Officer (a.k.a., Executive Director) of Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity (“BRHFH”) is responsible for implementation of BRHFH’s overall mission in accordance with the objectives, policies, and directives established from time to time by the Board of Directors. To this end, the Executive Director must supervise a professional staff, support the development and implementation of BRHFH’s strategic plan, and develop sustainable organizational resources. Additional responsibilities include managing / overseeing BRHFH’s programs and operations, leading business strategy and organizational development, supporting board development, providing fiscal oversight, representing and promoting BRHFH in the community, and developing and maintaining community partnerships.

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director must support BRHFH’s faith-based mission and maintain transparency and uncompromising integrity and values.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree; e.g., business administration, social services, public policy, or related field and minimum of 5 years experience in organizational leadership capacity.
  • Experience in finance including budget development, preparation of financial reports and analysis, and cash flow management.
  • Leadership experience in planning and delegating, supervising staff, and building community partnerships.
  • Understanding volunteer recruitment and engagement. Experience working with or serving on a volunteer board of directors.
  • Appreciation and understanding of the housing needs of low-income families.

  • Strong management skills and ability to develop, lead, and nurture high performance and a professional atmosphere.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead individuals. Highly collaborative, organized, and efficient.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral (including interpersonal communication).
  • Communicates well with a wide variety of stakeholders, including families, board members, and community partners.
  • Experience in developing resources and community partnerships.
  • Strategic thinker and planner, problem solver, and ability to lead the board and staff in ongoing strategic planning and implementation efforts.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated conflict resolution skills.

Working Conditions

  • Routinely moves computer equipment and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, ladders, and ramps.
  • Remains in stationary positions (e.g., seated position) for extended periods of time. Remains in a standing position for extended periods of time. Work consists of moving throughout buildings and work sites.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to the board, staff, and/ or public. Communicate (orally and in written form) detailed instructions to others accurately, loudly, and/or quickly.
  • Work involves perceiving the nature of sounds by ear. Work also involves having clarity of vision at various distances.
  • Travel to various locations inside and outside Central Oregon.

Employment

The Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director is a salaried exempt employee. This employee will work on a regular full-time basis, with the ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary or appropriate. The Executive Director is employed on an at-will basis.

Salary and Compensation

Salary Range – $140,000 – $160,000
