The teacher is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate educational environment. They are accountable for their classroom management and operation. Major responsibilities include lesson plan development, appropriate interactions with children, and communication with parents.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Work with the Center Director to develop an appropriate curriculum and ensures that it complies with state and federal requirements.
Develop and implement weekly lesson plans in conjunction with the classroom staff
Provide developmentally appropriate educational opportunities to children, including reading, writing, math, science, art, and music
Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
Provide constant supervision of children in your care inside the center as well as outside on the playground, and on field trips
Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered
Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits
Organize and participate in recreational activities
Assist in preparing food for children and serve meals and refreshments to children and regulate rest periods
Assist children in self-care routines (washing hands, changing clothes, diapering etc.)
Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning/sanitizing, dishwashing, and changing of linens
Maintain a healthy environment both inside and outside that promotes learning
Maintain confidentiality of child and family information
Assist in preparing and maintaining the center to meet Missouri licensing requirements
Communicate to the Center Director observed safety, physical, and licensing issues immediately
Maintain prompt hours and notify your immediate supervisor in a timely manner in the event of your absence
Attend all required staff meetings, functions and staff development opportunities
Collaborate professionally and respectfully with other members of your team
All other job related duties as assigned
Be able to lift up to 55 pounds
Excessive climbing, walking, bending, stretching and sitting on floor with children
Exposure to childhood illnesses and diseases
Exposure to varying outside temperatures (heat and cold)
Minimum Qualifications:
CDA (Child Development Associate Credential)
Preferred Qualifications:
AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field and 6 months previous experience working with young children.
