Schedule: Flexible, including opportunities for hybrid work.

Compensation: 28-32 hours per week at $18-$20 per hour. In addition, 14 holidays and 10 days of paid vacation leave will be offered every calendar year.

JOB SUMMARY

The Church Administrator maintains a warm, welcoming, and orderly atmosphere for parishioners and others who contact or visit the church. They are responsible and accountable for day-to-day coordination and implementation of administrative and business-related functions of Good Soil Lutheran Ministries. They work closely with the pastor, staff, council leaders, parishioners, and rental groups/ministry partners to provide support services for all church operations.

This position requires that the Church Administrator be able to work independently and in a responsive, effective manner to the church leadership and congregation. The ability to foster a hospitable atmosphere, maintain confidentiality, take initiative, anticipate needs, problem solve, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and proficiency in technology is essential.

Good Soil utilizes Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Mail Chimp, Dropbox, Power Church, Slack, WordPress, Canva, Adobe Acrobat, Ministry Scheduler Pro, Facebook and YouTube, and some experience with these applications is desired. We are a growing congregation, and we are eager to integrate new technology and communication platforms with our ministry – the ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology, willing to learn new programs, and/or assist Good Soil in strengthening administrative ministries with their knowledge of any alternative applications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

General:

  • Provide office administrative support to the pastor daily and to council members and parishioners as required for church ministry business.
  • Respond to all telephone, email, and in-person inquiries/visits with courtesy, timeliness, and tact.
  • Maintain phone greeting, track voicemails, and share messages in timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain proper church files and records (electronic and physical), and collaborate and coordinate reporting throughout the year.
  • Monitor maintenance of church equipment and supplies; schedule servicing as needed; order parts and supplies as needed.
  • Manage church and computer related subscriptions.
  • Perform general bookkeeping duties (record and process offering contributions, reimbursements, receipts, and expenses in the Church accounting system, PowerChurch).
  • Create, design, proofread and edit church marketing materials.
  • Assist with social media posts to communicate important messages to the Congregation and its online community.
  • Maintain church website and YouTube page.

Worship Preparation:

  • Create worship bulletins and slides, adding graphics, lessons, music, announcements, etc. with pastor and worship and music coordinator’s input.
  • Create and maintain worship servant schedule via Ministry Scheduler Pro.
  • Interface with supply pastors and substitute musicians as needed.

Communications and Scheduling:

  • Prepare weekly e-news via Mail Chimp.
  • Post and maintain church/community content on the bulletin board in the hallway.
  • Support mailings of ministry teams (card ministry, generosity team, etc.).
  • Maintain master church calendar and coordinate building use of church events with building use of rental groups/ministry partners.
  • Interface with ministry partners, rental groups, and custodial services.
  • Regularly create or reshare content and maintain a social media presence.
