CITY MANAGER

The City of St. Johns, Michigan (population 7,865) is seeking a committed leader and devoted public servant to serve as their next City Manager. St. Johns serves as the county seat of Clinton County. The community will offer the ideal candidate a very competitive salary and a staff and City Council that are committed to excellence.

Located just off US-127 in Mid-Michigan, St. Johns is perfectly centered between the rural “up north feeling” that so many desire and a short 20 minute drive to the bright lights of Michigan State University and Lansing. Many consider St. Johns as the Gateway to Northern Michigan.

Our new City Manager will be embraced by a small town bursting with “Redwing Pride.” The St. Johns Public Schools are often referred to as one of Michigan’s best schools. Redwing students excel in many areas including athletics, theater, art and band. The St. Johns community has a rich history of supporting their schools. The school system plays a major role in St. Johns’ success.

Beyond a great school system, St. Johns is proud of our vibrant downtown. City leaders, and the St. Johns Downtown Development Authority, work closely to reach out to the future, yet preserve the history of downtown St. Johns. Downtown St. Johns is anchored by the County Courthouse to the south and the Veteran’s Memorial to the north.

The City Commission is most interested in candidates who have a demonstrated passion for local government. The most important traits sought by the five-member City Commission are leadership, teambuilding, a relationship builder, proven success with project management and one who tends to be unflappable.
