Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
In coordination with the Program Director and Assistant Director assure that matriculants are provided with didactic and clinical education to complete the Masters of Nurse Anesthesia Program from the USC School of Medicine and to be eligible to write the Certification Exam from the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
Key Responsibilities
:
- Provide instruction to the students of the of the nurse anesthesia program via didactic and clinical areas.
- Work together with the Director and Assistant Director to ensure that the program complies with the Standards and Guidelines of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.
- Active participation in the recruiting, interview and selection process for admitting qualified registered nurses to the program as well as any other committees developed for the Nurse Anesthesia Program.
- Works together with the Director and Assistant Director to plan, develop and implement didactic courses that comply with the Standards and Guidelines of Nurse Anesthesia Programs and the University of South Carolina Graduate School.
- Assist with providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons/students in the department and apply policies/procedures.
- Assist in the assessment and improvement of the department’s performance by monitoring performance through data, analyzing data, and implementing performance improvement.
- Number and Type of Employees Supervised: Students enrolled as students in the School of Nurse Anesthesia who are registered nurses in the State of South Carolina.
Required Education and Experience
Education: Minimum of a Master’s Degree, doctoral level preferred(or currently enrolled). Graduate from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program.
Experience: Min. of two years clinical exp. as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist. Must be experienced in the anesthetic management of a variety of patients and procedures. Supervision of student nurse anesthetists preferred. Leadership and educational experience preferred. Prior experience with didactic teaching recommended.
Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Certification or recertification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Council on Certification or Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists. Non-disciplined license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina.
Special Training: Must be able to work with various computer programs for the purpose of educating and scheduling students.
