The Registered Nurse works collaboratively with providers, co-workers, patients, family members and our community partners to encourage a positive attitude toward family planning. Communication skills are essential for good interaction. The RN is responsible for adhering to the clinical practices, policies, and procedures of TCA Health within the RN scope of practice to manage family planning in a very specific patient population. Supervision of Medical Assistants or LPNs may be required from time to time.
Professional Duties:
- Promote and maintain a high level of nursing care.
- Cooperate with all staff to maintain a high level of patient care.
- Uses the nursing process to solve problems as they arise.
- Uses critical thinking skills to document patient care plans in the electronic medical record.
- Maintain medical records while keeping the patient care plan up to date.
- Uses effective and professional communication with patients, family members, providers, co-workers, and community groups.
- Educate patients, employees, community groups, and health care professionals regarding family planning.
- Evaluate the patient's knowledge, lead group discussions, facilitate communication, and answer questions.
- Prepare the patient for examination and clarify instructions as needed.
- Educate patients on contraceptive services, pregnancy testing and counseling, sexually transmitted infections, and preconception health services.
- Provide follow-up education and care that is compassionate, considerate, sympathetic, and non-judgmental.
- The ideal candidate will be organized with the ability to prioritize assignments.
- Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Collaborate with Outreach Department; prepares for and attends outside events.
- Develop creative ways to engage patients to participate in care.
- Facilitate group patient trainings individually or in partnership with other health care providers.
- Demonstrates ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions and/or project requirements.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and good work ethic; displays TCA’s core values and works well with others. Provides excellent customer service, both internally and externally.
- Adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations as well as the expected code of conduct and ethics related to IT security, HIPPA, Infection Control, and Confidentiality.
- Maintains professional appearance and attire.
- Punctual and reliable attendance at the assigned work location.
- Other RN duties as assigned.
