Job Description

The overall goal of the Clinical Research Recruitment Coordinator is to ensure that enrollment into any particular UM clinical study/trial is carried out as efficiently and effectively as possible by executing a customized enrollment plan, which includes navigating and implementing best practices for enrollment. This position is responsible for assessing potential recruitment strategies, planning/implementing recruitment strategies, and monitoring recruitment and reporting outcomes to stakeholders and leadership.

Implement recruitment plans for clinical research protocols:

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, IRB standards/SOPs, applicable research regulatory rules, regulations, guidance, and industry standards, and Good Clinical Practice.
  • Work with area community leaders and people of under represented minorities who have influence to become advocates for minority participation in research studies.
  • Work with UM marketing team in relation to posting on UM Social Media Sites and implementing print/radio/TV ads.
  • Strategically place IRB approved posters and flyers.
  • IRB form submission and approval support.
  • Review UM charts to identify potential participants (following determination of IRB approval of activity).
  • Participant pre-screening and referrals.
  • Provide information about the study/trial to potential participants, either in person or by telephone, and interview potential participants for studies utilizing the approved RPR questionnaire, and then enter that acquired data into the RPR database for clinical trial referral opportunities.

Assess recruitment strategies for clinical research protocols:

  • Work with designated clinical research/trial team(s) to develop an evolving and increasingly sophisticated set of recruitment techniques, periodically assessing and refining the effectiveness of these techniques.
  • Consultation with Principal Investigators and/or study teams: Review protocol/logistical plan/current strategy (if applicable) during start-up phase or during ongoing trials experiencing slow/problematic recruitment.

Develop strategic recruitment plans for clinical research:

  • Collaborative strategic recruitment plan development and guidance.
  • Develop flyers/posters/social media posts/email blasts/print/radio/TV ads.
  • Interaction with community stakeholders to identify health needs and priorities and help promote successful recruitment and retention of diverse participants in clinical studies.
  • Prepare and submit SOM Research Data Requests as applicable to assess potential pool of participants.
  • Create and implement IRB approved pre-screening tools and/or scripts.

Monitor outcomes of recruitment strategies for clinical research protocols:

  • Track monthly / quarterly / annually the return on implementation of strategies, to measure the effectiveness of the recruitment plan in place.

Report metrics and outcomes of recruitment strategies to various stakeholders:

  • Meet with designated clinical research/trial teams, which include the Principal Investigator, department clinical research coordinator and study staff regularly to assess enrollment status and/or to offer solutions to any enrollment problems/obstacles.
  • Monthly push report to PI and leadership: Identify study, department, PI; Report on current study staff; Enrollment goal; Current enrollment number; Pre-screening log data; ID major themes to enrollment challenges.

Salary Range: $56,864 - $101,842 annually

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional research certification from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals or Society of Clinical Research Administrators.
