Job Title: Clinician I

Classification: Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

Reports to: Clinical Director & Clinical Program Manager

SUMMARY

Clinician I’s primary function is to enhance the quality of client care, to maximize client satisfaction, and to promote clients’ overall wellbeing while in the recovery program. Clinician I works to facilitate client care by assessing client needs, evaluating treatment options, coordinating care, and gauging treatment progress. The overall goal for Clinician I is to improve clinical outcomes, increase client satisfaction, and promote cost-effectiveness.

Clinician I’s duties include, but are not limited to assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating actions required to the client’s recovery needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

  • Gathers data of clients’ history through personal interviews with client, family, and others; prepares case histories affecting client; provides clinical assessment and treatment planning for clients.
  • Manages an assigned client caseload
  • Conducts one weekly individual counseling session and one bi-weekly family counseling session for each client on caseload
  • Completes Utilization Review documentation one day prior to UR dates
  • Completes and update treatment plans for each client on caseload per Company’s Policies and Procedures
  • Facilitates group counseling session as assigned
  • Facilitates Emergency Contact calls per Company’s Policies and Procedures and ensures consistent communication with clients’ support systems
  • Ensures outcomes assessments and surveys are diagnostically appropriate and completed
  • Facilitates case management services such as FMLA, short- and long-term benefits, and court and communal services
  • Prepares and coordinates discharge and aftercare plans

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Financial Department to ensure all required insurance payments are collected and disseminates pertinent client information that would prevent payment collections.
  • Participates in assigned and proactively seeks knowledge to build competency in specialty treatments provides by Company
  • Maintains qualifications and provision of care in accordance with national acceptable standards of practices pertinent to roles based on job title
  • Maintains knowledge of current regulatory and accreditation standards, along with federal, state, and local codes pertinent to this role and addiction treatment
  • Ensures all regulatory standards, requirements, and guidelines, including licensing boards, accreditation authorities, and federal, state, and local regulations are adhered to
  • Adheres to scheduled work hours with regular and predictable attendance
  • Collaborates with medical team and other clinical staff in the development and implementation of clients’ treatment and intervention programs that they can understand and comply with
  • Participates in crisis intervention and conflict resolution actions, including suicide assessments, partner abuse, child and elder abuse screening; takes appropriate measures to resolve crisis situations; implements mandatory reporting procedures in accordance with regulations (including HIPAA) and policies
  • Monitors clients’ conduct throughout the day
  • Ensures clients are attending appropriate sessions and are on time
  • Collaborates with clinical team and attends and participates in clinical team meetings
  • Conveys clients’ needs to medical, operational, and other clinical staff
  • Maintains a high level of flexibility with the daily flow of work tasks
  • Maintains proper chain of command
  • Maintains current auto liability insurance if driving on company business
  • Provides transportation for clients as needed to outside appointments

Work Environment:

Typically work is performed at the facility, although given the nature of our business, frequently connecting remotely is required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Full-time, typical 40-hours per week (Monday through Friday), or Part-time , typically 20-30 hours, with the occasional need to drive and ensure highest level of client care

Travel:

Typical travel between current sites within the San Fernando Valley: White Oak Recovery (WORC), Northridge Addiction Treatment Center (NATC), Eternal Purpose Recovery Center, Elevations Substance Abuse Facility, Southern California Addiction Recovery Center (SCARC), The Villa Treatment Center, etc.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) year of experience working within the Chemical Dependency field
  • An active Substance Use Disorder (SUD) certification (e.g., SUDCC, CADC, CATC, or equivalent certification)
  • First Aid/CPR Certified
  • Computer literacy and typing skills utilizes an electronic health record
  • COVID-19 Vaccination (and booster if eligible) or a valid exemption is required at this time per CDPH order
