CMM Programmer Job at CAID Industries
SUMMARY & SCOPE: The Senior Quality Assurance Metrology Inspector/CMM Programmer will initiate process and quality improvements, procedures, and changes in procedures to achieve the overall continuous improvement goals of CAID industries. The Senior Quality Assurance Metrology Inspector is responsible for interpreting customer drawings and specifications and determining the necessary metrology requirements to ensure that the customers’ requirements are met.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze drawings and model data to determine optimal measurement routine and work holding
- Trains and develops quality assurance personnel in the Metrology Lab based on project requirements and scope.
- Develop CMM programs using model-based definition and/or blueprints for Hexagon CMM & PCMM using PC-DMIS software
- Develop programs using model or blueprints for Leica Laser Tracker using Inspire software
- Develop programs using model or blueprints for FARO Laser Tracker using Spatial Analyzer software
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineering, and Shop Floor management in new program creation/release and program changes that improve quality and throughput
- Create detailed inspection plans with ballooned drawings using DISCUS software
- Create and maintain CMM program library ensuring revision control
- Able to validate first piece runs meet drawing intent
- Must have a Lean manufacturing mindset in the shop including set-up time reduction, overall waste reduction, and reduced variation between machines and programs
- Create standards for CMM programs and train ME’s, inspectors, and appropriate Machinists on methodology
- Oversees, develops, and conducts inspections on components and tools using CAD and GD&T information with portable and stationary Coordinate Measuring Machines.
- Expert operator in multiple types of metrology equipment for the inspection of components and manufacturing tools.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with CAD (AutoCAD or SolidWorks), and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Advanced knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to write legible reports and findings, using basic programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to create advanced programs for PC-DMIS, Inspire, and Spatial Analyzer software.
- Understanding of basic statistical process control, probabilities, and sampling plans.
- Understanding of basic quality concepts, philosophies, and tools as well as of quality standards such as ISO, AS9100 or other quality management systems and manufacturing processes and capabilities.
- Ability to work on multiple projects, in multiple environments and locations.
- Subject matter expert in performing measurement system error and non-conformity root cause evaluations and assists in develop corrective action plans.
- Expert in developing inspection methods, inspection planning and providing feedback to improve product and tool designs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5- 7 years applicable experience required
- 3 years minimum directly related experience working with CMM’s
- Strong competence using off-line CMM programming software
- Extensive knowledge of GD&T as well as aerospace specifications
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or other model-based CAD system
- Proficient in the use of advanced metrology equipment such as Laser Trackers, Portable ARMS, CMMs, and laser scanners
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years minimum directly related experience working with CMM’s
- Experience machining parts for aerospace, defense, power generation or medical industries
- PC-DMIS programming, 3+ years
- 2 or 4-year technical degree from an accredited university or technical college (AS or BS)
- Formal Lean/Six Sigma training - Green or Black Belt Certification
