Contractors Steel Company powered by UPG is a growing steel service center that has been in business for almost 60 years. Contractors Steel is looking to hire a Machine Operator to join our dynamic team! Successful candidates will have ideally worked in the steel industry (but not required) and have a solid level of experience with the types of specialized products and services produced by steel service centers.

We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate that is eager to learn and grow in this fast-paced environment. We strive to build strong relationships with our customers by providing high level of service, value-add opportunities, and professionalism in all interactions, allowing us to become a valued member of their supply chain and production teams.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Review processing list for size of material to be broke and verify dimensions
• Select die for configuration of how material is to be broke
• Adjust pressure and back gage
• Identify material according to processing list
• Band and tag material for shipment, stage material

Position Requirements

• Must be able to have full use of hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools and controls
• Must be able to reach with hands and arms
• Must be able to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk
• Must be able to occasionally lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds
• Must possess vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the shop. The noise level in the workplace can be loud.
