JOB SUMMARY

The Communications and Public Relations Specialist develops, implements and evaluates communications plans for Associated Food Stores, a grocery wholesaler representing more than 400 local and independent grocery store owners across nine western states. The specialist is responsible for creating and distributing relevant and engaging content to independent grocers and 5,000+ corporate, distribution and retail team members using relevant media platforms.

The specialist works closely with company leadership and other communications team members to manage content for the companies public-facing, intranet and extranet websites, along with a team-member app. The successful candidate thrives on collaboration, is innately curious, loves crafting amazing stories about company accomplishments and is passionate about sharing news with others using technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Communications and Public Relations Specialist develops and implements communications programs and campaigns
• Work with company leaders to enhance the organizations internet and extranet site content
• Create, manage, disseminate and measure results of communications and PR initiatives
• Function as a liaison between marketing, communications and the information technology team to facilitate communication tool adoption and content enrichment
• Work, as needed, with media to develop and cultivate relationships with media members
• Gather data to measure results of team, retail and other communications programs
• Assist with charitable strategies, initiatives and guest and team engagement efforts
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelors degree in public relations, marketing or related communications field preferred
• One to three years relevant experience preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media platforms with demonstrated ability
• Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint a plus
• Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with high attention to detail and confidentiality
• Minimal travel to retail locations may be required +
