Pennington Biomedical Research Center
, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Community Outreach Specialist in the Clinical Trials Unit.
This position is responsible for initiating/enhancing community relationships to increase support for participant recruitment for clinical programs. This role is expected to promote healthcare provider and community awareness of available clinical trial enrollment opportunities and identify, screen, and consent appropriate participants into research protocols.
Job Responsibilities

Actively seek out and coordinate grassroots one-time and regularly scheduled events and strategic contacts designed to increase volunteer enrollment and awareness of clinical trials including the organization and promotion of informational and health screening recruiting events.

Initiate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders/businesses in the community to increase community support for clinical programs.

Speak with community groups regarding the various programs and activities available through our clinical programs.

Recruit community leaders to endorse specific sponsored research/clinical programs.

Develop new strategies for information dissemination among interested community partners, with the purpose of increasing exposure to and participation in clinical programs.

Identify new outreach opportunities through ongoing qualitative and quantitative research and implementation.

Prepare weekly/monthly outreach plans, monthly event calendars, and related reports designed to enhance the strategic planning efforts and effectiveness of the department.

Work with clinical faculty and staff to understand current and future research volunteer recruitment needs.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field.
-
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
-
Knowledge and capacity to work effectively with people from diverse professional, cultural, and personal backgrounds.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
-
Strong organizational and management skills.
-
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.

Ability to travel frequently to various sites in the community.
-
Must have access to a personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement can be provided.

Must have a valid, current driver’s license and proof of valid insurance.
