Responsibilities:
NASA Federal Credit Union is seeking a Compliance Analyst to maintain awareness of regulatory requirements, risk management issues, and best practices affecting Credit Union operations. The Compliance Analyst will participate in or lead compliance-related initiatives and projects, including risk assessments. This position will also ensure disclosures, forms, marketing material, website, etc. meet regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following with other duties may be assigned.
Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to financial institutions, including the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and the Right to Financial Privacy Act.
Level I:
Acts as a regulatory compliance resource and consistently applies sound review and recommendation techniques as they relate to policies, procedures, and regulations. This responsibility includes:
- Researches and responds to requests from various departments for compliance assistance
- Participates as a compliance resource on corporate and department projects
- Works collaboratively with others to respond to member complaints
- Works collaboratively with others on the creation and revision of forms, disclosures, policies and procedures, advertising, etc., to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintains awareness of laws and regulations affecting the Credit Union and works collaboratively with others throughout the organization.
- Utilizes a compliance management system to communicate and track regulatory updates.
- Creates and revises operational procedures within area of responsibility.
- Participates in professional roundtables as appropriate; network with other financial institutions and subject matter experts; attend continuing educations as necessary to maintain proficiency with laws and regulations affecting areas of responsibility.
Level II: All Level I responsibilities and the following:
- Develops business cases and leads corporate projects to implement new or revised regulatory requirements.
- Works collaboratively with others to ensure a comprehensive regulatory compliance training program is in place.
- Coordinates responses to member complaints.
- Assists with the preparation of regulatory comment letters.
- Assists with researching various state laws to ensure Credit Union processes for the various products and services promoted nationwide are compliant.
- Participates in compliance-related risk assessments and risk evaluations of new business opportunities.
- Communicates with external legal and compliance professionals when needed.
- Assists with responding to internal audits and regulatory examinations.
- Assists with preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
- Assists with the maintenance of the record retention program.
Level III: All level I and II responsibilities and the following:
- Conducts compliance-related risk assessments and prepares reports for management.
- Researches various state laws to ensure Credit Union processes for the various products and services promoted nationwide meet requirements and provide summary reports.
- Coordinates member complaint process, including developing and implementing process improvements.
- Assists in leading the Compliance Committee and provides summary reports to management.
- Participates in tracking compliance metrics and provides reports to management.
- Prepares regulatory comment letters as needed.
- Coordinates the maintenance of the record retention program.
- Acts as back-up to Compliance Program Manager when necessary.
Knowledge of federal laws and regulations affecting financial institutions is required. Regulatory Compliance certification is preferred but attaining certification within 12 months after start date is expected.
Level I:
- A Bachelor’s degree from accredited college in relevant field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of progressively advancing financial institution experience along with regulatory compliance responsibilities.
Level II: All Level I qualifications and the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree from accredited college in relevant field preferred.
- Minimum of four years of progressively advancing financial institution experience along with regulatory compliance responsibilities.
- Regulatory compliance certification required.
Level III: All level I and II qualifications and the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree from accredited college in relevant field preferred.
- Minimum of six years of progressively advancing financial institution experience with at least three years specifically responsible for regulatory compliance responsibilities.
- A degree in a related field could be taken into consideration to satisfy regulatory compliance experience.
- Regulatory compliance certification required.
