General description
Join the Audit team as an Accounts Examiner III! Work involves conducting research and analysis of complex taxpayer accounts, prepares documentation to justify actions, and monitors accounts for completion or subsequent actions. Uses all applicable computer systems or a personal computer to code or run programs to maintain or update files or produce reports. Assists taxpayers, other agencies, and agency personnel with taxability questions. May train others. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The candidate must have the ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply knowledge appropriately in a highly active environment with ever-changing circumstances. Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a management, accounting or other business-related degree.
- Two (2) years of experience analyzing and researching taxpayer accounts.
Substitutions
- One additional year of experience in analyzing and researching taxpayer accounts may substitute for thirty semester hours of the required education, with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).
In this role you will:
- Review, analyze, research, edit and process tax data.
- Verifies that tax data is processed correctly.
- Calculates Credit Interest (CRI) amounts through refund date and refund credits.
- Perform file maintenance on taxpayer accounts.
- Logs in and verifies dollars collected.
- Updates non-released audit information to the tax systems, calculates final figures and processes final decisions.
- Verifies overpaid audit amounts, updates CRI and refunds.
- Performs all tasks associated with completion of the primary tasks such as scanning and verifying completed documents.
- Prioritizes, plans, and organizes assigned inventory in a manner that will optimize efficiency on moderately complex accounts examination work.
- Plans available time to efficiently complete assigned tasks.
- Is dependable, meets deadlines and produces high-quality work. Is receptive to constructive feedback and adjusts work behavior based on feedback. Is responsive to inquiries and assignments in a timely manner, regardless of the requestor’s status.
