General Description


The Education and Communications section in the Property Tax Assistance Division focuses on providing complex technical information in a simplified manner while educating the public and building positive relationships between the division and property tax professionals. We are looking for a supervisor who is innovative and creative; has strong communication skills; and can handle the challenges of a multifaceted team. You would be a great fit for this position if you are self-motivated, resourceful, can deliver results and work well with others.



This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.


Qualifications


Minimum Experience Requirements:


  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Five (5) years relevant experience developing educational materials for professional certifications and/or writing and editing published materials and communications.
  • Project lead and/or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in the property tax field.

Preferred Experience:


  • Experience supervising large programs and/or staff
  • Experience in government in a state agency, local government entity or legislative office.
  • Experience in implementing agency administrative rules, policies, procedures, and other regulations.
  • Experience planning conferences or large events.

Substitution:

  • One (1) additional year of experience developing educational, training and/or published informational materials work may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours

Licenses/Certifications:


  • Must have or be able to certify as a Registered Professional Appraiser (RPA) or Registered Texas Assessor (RTA) within three years.
  • A valid Texas (or state of residency) driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are a condition of employment. Applicants offered an interview must present the following documents at or before the interview: A state issued driving record for the last 36 months; valid Texas driver’s license (or state of residency driver’s license); and current proof of automobile insurance.

In this role you will:


  • Oversees and manages section programs
  • Provides supervision and guidance to section employees
  • Oversees and/or prepares, maintains, coordinates timely issuance of division informational materials including
  • Reviews pending legislation for division impact. Reviews passed legislation for implementation and updating division materials.
  • May prepare and conduct trainings, seminars, and presentations about property tax topics for staff, taxpayers, and industry events.
