This is a full-time position & the Salary ranges from $75,000-$95,000 a year. American Thermal Systems offers 401k, Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Construction Estimator role is an exempt position responsible for preparing cost estimates, proposals and managing cost of projects by analyzing requirements for cold storage general contracting projects. This position reports to the Regional Vice President.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Pre-Construction Estimating & Proposals:

• Timely communication with the CEO and Regional VP on prospective cold storage projects and food manufacturing projects
• Gain a full understanding of a project s requirements and scope of work to bid & ability to understand and interpret technically complex contract documents and project schedule.
• Visit sites, warehouses, and other venues necessary to develop estimates and proposals. Perform risk analysis of a project & review plans and specification for general building code compliance and standard industry practices.
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. Establish, and maintain long term relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
• Track actual commodities pricing for items that may impact cost before bid
• Develop RFPs and RFQs for vendors and subs and manage incoming bids through project management software, qualify subs and vendors through the approved vendor list process
• Review and evaluate proposals and quotes, update Bid List
• Qualify subs and vendors through the approved vendor list process
• Maintain timely accurate communication with subcontractors and vendors
• Responsible for project setup in project management software & preparing estimates and proposals to clients using On-Screen Take-Off and Quick Bid

Construction Cost Management:

• Managing project budget
• Project buy out with Project Manager after project is awarded
• Track and manage cost and budget of project
• Preparing and tracking change order cost, change order proposal and change order & change order log
• Review and approve subcontractor submittals with Project Manager
• Collaborating with team to review and approve that we can deliver

Other Duties as Needed for the Construction Estimator:

• Maintain cost codes and update master cost lists
• Receive material on a project & project start-up
• Contribute to team by assisting with resolution of constructability issues during design and coordinate pricing of alternative design concepts
• Research and maintain technological excellence

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

• 5+ years experience in constructing cold storage and food manufacturing facilities. Green field, expansion, and renovation
• Managed $1MM-$12MM in project size
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
• Keen attention to detail and an aptitude for problem solving skills
• Highly motivated with a strong work ethic, integrity & commitment to team s success
• Proficient computer skills with a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office programs
• Experience using project management software, Bluebeam/AutoCAD, OST, and Quick Bid

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

As a construction estimator you must be willing to travel a minimum of 20% of the time, when necessary. This position is not remote, it requires you to reside in Houston or the surrounding area.

This position is a full-time position with a salary ranging from $75,000-$95,000 a year. American Thermal Systems offers 401K and Medical Insurance. We pay 100% for Dental, Vision and Life Insurance.
