Fremodel, is seeking a Controller to own and manage the day to day finance and accounting needs of the business as we rapidly grow. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will work directly with stakeholders across the company and executive team to oversee financial accounting, reporting, and the overall control environment. This role requires a solid understanding of key technical financial accounting concepts and will be a hands-on leader within the organization. This is a hybrid role with an average of 2 days per week in our office in Burlingame, CA.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of accounting, including implementation of processes and internal controls necessary for GAAP standards, and develop and scale the organization for growth
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly close process and preparation of financial statements
• Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Manage external audits and completion of tax filings.
• Coordinate with other teams to ensure timely recording of transactions and the completeness and accuracy of all financial reporting
• Drive continuous improvement in internal control processes
• Work with FP&A on monthly financial reporting, forecast vs budget and cash flow projections
• Manage AP and AR

What You Will Bring:

• Solid understanding of accounting with a strategic mindset.
• Experience building the financial infrastructure, systems, processes, and automation to manage growth
• Experience with accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting, Revenue Accounting, Cost Accounting General Ledgers, and Budgeting
• Reporting process experience leading monthly financial close and quarterly and annual reporting ensuring accurate results
• Experience with fundraising processes
• Keen attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Natural curiosity and a strong desire to learn new skills
• Ability to work autonomously and part of a highly collaborative team
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment
• Problem-solving skills

Required Skills

• 6-8+ years of experience in an accounting position in a growing company from a relevant industry; prior experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm is preferred
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with deep experience in the areas of revenue recognition, accounting, tax and compliance with US GAAP.
• Excellent knowledge of internal controls and ability to identify and recommend new changes to controls
• Extraordinary communication and organizational skills, with a proven record of success in dynamic environments
• Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team
• Previous experience working in a rapid growth startup environment is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets required
• Experience working with Quickbooks required
• Active or inactive CPA

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $165,000.00 - $195,000.00 per year
