Job Description
Our company is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our Accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in the retail industry and have a proven track record of managing and leading a small to medium-sized team. As a skilled financial analyst and strong communicator, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing daily financial operations and financial reporting processes. This position will play a crucial role in producing thorough financial-status reports for senior managers, improving operational efficiency, and aiding in the company's continued growth.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Establish (in coordination with CFO and CEO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a biweekly, monthly, and annual basis
- Oversee the production of financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Review financial details from past, present, and forecasted operations; identify development opportunities and improvements that can be made.
- Act as the primary liaison between the external auditors and provide requested information for the annual audit.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
- Maintain knowledge of organizational procedures, federal and state regulations, and accounting standards ensuring compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred and 7+ years of related experience
- Experience in the Retail Industry required, Sports Retail and Ecommerce preferred
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- GAAP knowledge, CPA preferred
- Working Understanding of SAP
- Strong written, verbal and collaboration skills

Pay: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
