Department History Overview

Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as Harris County Child Welfare to provide support services for children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.

Coordinator - Permanency Support Overview:

Under the supervision of the Permanency Support Team Manager, this position schedules and facilitates Family group Conference meetings in order to develop a family service plan that addresses safety, permanency and wellbeing of the child.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Receives the referral, reviews the affidavit, researches IMPACT and or Lawbase for contact information.
  • Contacts parents or family members to offer and discuss the family conference agenda. Coordinates with the family and DFPS staff to obtain a date and time for the meeting.
  • Facilitates Family Group Conferences and develop the family plan of service.
  • Reviews the developed plan to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepares case files and documents meetings in IMPACT and Evolv.
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings.
  • Distributes meeting notifications to all necessary parties, including DFPS staff, PST staff, CASA, and attorneys.
  • Identifies and collects necessary evaluative data and statistical reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Other Related Human and/or Social Sciences.
Experience:
  • Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience facilitating groups in a collaborative environment with children, adolescents, and families who have experienced child abuse, neglect, or other forms of child maltreatment and trauma.
  • Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
Licensure:
  • Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license (Texas) and auto liability insurance

  • Must be responsible and self-disciplined.

  • Self-motivated and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Must be detailed-oriented and innovative.

  • Monday - Friday | 08:00 a.m. – 05:00 p.m.
Salary:
  • $47,652.80-$57,636.80 (Annually)
  • Based on 26 Pay Periods
  • Plus, Mileage Reimbursement
Work Environment:
  • Must be able to travel to outlying counties
Work Location:
  • 2525 Murworth

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
