As the Database Administrator you will ensure all database systems are functional and operating at peak efficiency with high system availability, protecting the security and integrity of the company’s databases and systems. Working for the premier provider of web-delivered curriculum and assessment, this is an opportunity to make a real impact on the learning outcomes of nearly 2 million students using our products to learn about technology, math and science.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Proactively monitor databases and database servers to include SQL, Redis, and Aurora. Proactively monitor warehouse, data lake, data lakehouses, and/or data marts
  • Identify and resolve database performance and maintenance issues. Tune stored procedures and indexes to maximize performance
  • Provide 24/7 support to ensure high availability for all data and database systems
  • Fulfill customer requests by creating and running scripts and code to make changes to customer data
  • Automate the database release process and other common tasks to improve operational efficiencies
  • Audit and manage database security
  • Develop and implement archival and deidentification strategy and processes
  • Recommend server configurations for future capacity planning of production and development environments
  • Evaluate database-related tools and vendors and advocate for their integration into our environment when appropriate
  • Identify threats to system integrity (security threats, DR incidents, data corruption), develop policies, determine appropriate precautions, create measurable standards, document procedures, implement changes, and perform ongoing maintenance to ensure business continuity during unplanned events

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Must be collaborative, adaptable, self-driven, dependable, and customer focused
  • Firm understanding of the networking equipment and concepts, web applications, networking, load balancing, high availability technologies, and disaster recovery architecture
  • Technical and troubleshooting skills is required; candidates should have experience in some of the following areas:
    • Strong administration experience with SQL Server
    • Solid skills with Transact-SQL, database/database server optimization, backup/recovery, security architecture, replication/log shipping, indexing
    • SQL tools such as Profiler, DTA, SQLCMD, SSIS, SSMS and BIDS
    • SQL clustering
    • Experience managing database objects in source control and using schema management tools such as RedGate, SSDT, etc
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends when necessary
