Summary:
The Deli Clerk is responsible to greet, sell, and provide superior customer service to each guest in a friendly and efficient manner. In addition, the Deli Clerk will handle their assigned duties including, but not limited to: presenting hot case products to customer, rotating product, cleans deli cases and equipment, ordering, receiving, stocking and display of food products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Deli Clerk:
- Acknowledge, greet and engage guest upon entry.
- Exceed guest expectations for service and build a reputation for ultimate service.
- Prepare a variety of meats, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using a variety of kitchen equipment.
- Understand and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and rules, policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work and service area including tables, shelves, walls, oven, and refrigeration equipment.
- Knowledgeable of deli operation, ability to comply with all applicable safety laws and regulation, as well as all safety policies, procedures and standards.
- Ensure displays are clean, well merchandised, signs visible, and products are rotated, maintain Swinomish Markets high standards for product freshness and sanitation.
- Ability to inform guest of all food products including ingredients upon request.
- Demonstrate positive, enthusiastic, committed and flexible attitude at all times, while promoting importance of effective teamwork.
- Maintain positive working relationships through respectful, open and effective two-way communication with all coworkers, supervisors, and all management.
- Practice safe work habits; maintain a high level of store cleanliness, organization, and a safe work environment.
- Complete opening and closing checklists.
- Assisting in other duties, as assigned by the Deli Manager.
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a Washington State Food Handlers Permit.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service.
- Able to read, write, and perform simple math problems.
- Able to interpret, understand, and follow instructions and solve problems.
- Must pass criminal background check and oral drug screen.
