FIRST AND FOREMOST THE POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SERVING MARINES, SAILORS AND FAMILY MEMBERS.
Major Duties
Summary of Duties:
Ensures the efficient operation of the Lodging Facility during assigned shift. Performs variety of clerical/technical duties in support of the reservation department. Answers reservation inquiries and determines availability. Creates reservation record; registers guest; assigns room and key card. Calculates and posts all charges to guest's account, presents statement, collects payment and maintains records on a Personal Computer. Coordinate guest services; maintain accurate room status information; monitor guest accounts; and notifies supervisor of delinquent accounts. Responsible for change fund. Answers telephone or operate telephone system. Relays messages to guests. Advises manager of any maintenance or guest problems. Calls emergency maintenance if warranted. Assists in training new employees. Provides information about location of activities and tourist attractions in the immediate area. May provide western union and video rental service. Stocks and sells alcoholic/nonalcoholic beverages and other retail merchandise.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observe safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
At least one year experience as a desk clerk or in progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work, which indicates the abilities to acquire the particular knowledge and skill to perform the duties of the job. Ability to operate a personal computer. Basic knowledge of business mathematics with experience in cash handling, operating cash register and computing charges. Ability to deal congenially and tactfully with others. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Must be twenty-one years of age or older.
