JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing fleet equipment as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technically proficient in all areas of Class 8 equipment, specifically tractors repairs. Position may require occasional trailer repairs.
Identifies diagnoses and resolves tractor and occasional trailer related problems.
Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of necessary company paperwork repair orders, indirect labor forms, etc.
Performs preventive maintenance (PM’s) on tractor and trailer equipment as assigned.
Assist other mechanics as needed.
Properly categorizes repairs ie Preventative Maintenance, Component Failure, Abuse, Accident, according to current company standards
Will accurately record parts and supplies used in performing repairs, which may include scanning bar coded parts, recording consumable supplies
Will accurately record repair stories in order to properly document complaints, causes and corrections of component failures and enable the company to recover warrantable expenses
Position includes bending, lifting (100 pounds), climbing, as it relates to maintenance of Class 8 equipment.
Required to pass an Occupational Physical test and drug screen.
Must have a valid driver’s license, CDL B, a plus, but not required and authorize Company to conduct a DMV audit of driving record.
Ability to work over time when required and Saturdays via rotating schedule.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School degree AND two years experience in Fleet Maintenance, Technical School Degree, or a combination thereof.
• Must have own set of tools.
• Previous experience with the repair, maintenance, and diagnosis of Class 8 equipment not limited to general driver repair requests, warranty repair requests, on-board vehicle electronics, etc.
• Previous experience with general welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to demonstrate clarity and conciseness in communication skills, both verbally and in written communication
• Basic computer skills as it applies to diagnostic tooling
