Mobile Service Technician Primary Objectives:
  • Diagnose failures and recommend appropriate repair procedures in a mobile service platform.
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.

Mobile Service Technician Accountability:
  • Reports to Mobile Service Manager
  • Works closely with the local Service Department and/or Mobile Dispatcher
  • Receives job assignments from the Mobile Service Manager/Advisor/Dispatcher
  • Interacts with dealership personnel, manufacturer representatives and customers
  • Must maintain clean driving record.
Mobile Service Technician Primary Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose cause of malfunction and perform repair in shop type atmospheres and safe roadside situations.
  • Accept and seek out training and mentoring that will aid in the advancement of established career path.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory on service vehicle.
  • Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Inspect the assigned vehicle to determine if additional service or safety related work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with service management immediately if additional work is needed, if work requested is not needed, or if repairs will not be as initially expected or completed on the anticipated schedule.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road test vehicles when required.
  • Participate in manufacturer sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Follow all service policies and procedures to ensure safety, profitability and accuracy. Is this needed?
  • Attain industry certifications as required.
  • Keep abreast of manufacturer updates and technical bulletins.
  • Learn to use new information technology as it becomes available.
  • Keep service truck and/or shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and equipment including returning to proper storage location when done.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as EPA, OSHA, and DOT.
  • Work in a safe manner always.
  • Report any safety issues to management immediately.
  • Respectfully interact closely with customers in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mobile Service Technician Nature and Scope
This position has close contact with customers, other departments and works closely with the department management to efficiently address customer’s needs and requests. Expect to work flexible hours to adapt to market changes and needs. Keeping abreast of technology changes and new repair procedures is a career long activity.
Mobile Service Technician Education and Skill Requirements
A vocational diploma or degree in diesel or truck repair, equivalent military training, or previous equivalent experience is required as well as computer skills and the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Commercial Driver License is required.
