Position Overview:
The Excavation Lead - CDL Class A is responsible for assisting the Excavation team carrying out a variety of tasks such as tidying up work areas, unloading materials, preparing worksites, cleaning debris, and executing other tasks as assigned. The Excavation Apprentice holds important roles on the Excavation sites by expediting the completion of underground plumbing projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Excavation Team to dig and set septic tanks and whole systems, sewer lines, water service, and gas lines to code/ quote specifications.
- Properly grade trenches for sewer line pitch.
- Safely operate excavation equipment.
- Basic troubleshooting & diagnosing of residential plumbing issues (drain stoppages/restrictions, etc)
- Clearly communicate inspection findings & repair options to the Excavation Lead
- Perform all plumbing repairs and placements to Code
- Work with tools associated with drain stoppages (snakes, cameras, hydro jetters, etc)
- Perform basic maintenance and upkeep on equipment.
- Ensure that all tools, equipment, supplies and assigned vehicles are clean and maintained
- Collect any money owed at the time of service if necessary
- Maintain Compliance with all OSHA Safety Regulations and City Ordinances
- Ensure customer is satisfied and happy with the work performed
- Maintain a high degree of integrity and loyalty toward the company and brand
- Always be safety conscious both on the job and while driving.
- Participate actively in all training exercises, morning meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Maintain a clear driving record, a CDL Class A or B license is a plus
- Self-starter, reliable, flexibility with hours
- Strong customer service skills
- Tech savvy and proficient in using an I-Pad and Service Titan Preferred
- Must pass random drug testing
- Desire to grow within the company and complete additional certifications
- Understanding of the current regulations within the field
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- General knowledge of power tools and techniques for care and safe use
Physical Demands:
- Climbing up and down on ladders and equipment
- Heavy lifting required (50-75) pounds, ladder work and tight space work required from time to time
- Ability to pick-up a minimum of 25 pounds consistently and carry up to 250 feet
- Operate handheld power tools
- Perform manual digging in tight areas
- Wear personal protective equipment
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week as needed
Working Environment:
- Work both indoors and outdoors
- Would be exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures
- Will be in proximity to hazardous conditions, equipment, and situations
- Wear safety attire, such as goggles or other protective clothing
- Could be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and distracting
- Will be exposed to very bright or inadequate lighting conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and work from roofs and scaffolding
- Will work around exposed contaminants
- Must be able to work in cramped work places, such as crawl spaces under floors.
