  • Experience with digital photography and/or other digitization equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with image editing software such as Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom, or Capture One.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify quality issues with digitized and born-digital image files.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to establish positive and productive collaborations with Libraries’ departments and divisions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in photography or related field.
  • Experience handling/processing fragile and/or unique materials and formats.
  • Supervisory experience, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage digital projects from start to completion.
  • Knowledge of national standards and best practices for digitization, metadata, and quality control processes.

Job Description
The Digitization Specialist is responsible for the general operation of the library’s digitization lab and provides oversight for internally and externally funded digitization projects. This position will plan, coordinate, and execute digitization activities and other digital projects. This position will help train, direct student work, and provide quality control for digitization projects. This position will contribute to digitization projects through photography, digitization, and image post-processing. This position will also help set up and maintain equipment.

Job Duties
  • Manage digitization and quality control activities, training, and digital projects development.
  • Provide digitization support for University Libraries including University Archives, the Wittliff Collections, and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and transfer materials. Process files to create master tiffs, derivative image files and readable PDFs.
  • Supervise and manage schedules of student employees to ensure adequate coverage for digitization services.
  • Operate digital photography equipment with both technical and artistic skill.
  • Document and report on digitization activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
