Position Overview:
The Director-Clinical Research directs and oversees the clinical research function and provides system-wide leadership for the Singing River Health System research enterprise and leads managers and professional team members. Develops departmental/function plans, including strategic, business, finance, business development, operational, service, and/or organizational priorities. Decisions are guided by resource availability and functional objectives. May also be responsible for functional or operational results through work of others but without formal reporting relationship (e.g., management of outsourced team members). The incumbent interacts with all levels of internal and external research staff, executive leadership and operational management to plan, organize, lead, monitor, and optimize the financial, clinical, and regulatory support of research including related regulatory compliance. Supports a culture of compliance and integrity in the Singing River Health System clinical research enterprise. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Education:
Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business (MBA), clinical research administration or related field preferred. Bachelor's degree considered with sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities.
License:
N/A
Certification:
Clinical research related certification strongly preferred (e.g. CCRP, CHRC).
Experience:
5+ years in clinical research administration demonstrating progressive leadership experience preferred.
Prior significant experience and proven success in enabling and broadly administering clinical trials and clinical research. Research financial and billing compliance management experience required.
Experience with electronic health record systems and clinical trial management systems preferred.

Director of Operations – Cancer Center
Supervises:
All Clinical Research staff
Physical Demands:
Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities. Auditory acuity to hear patient verbal communication and gather data using auscultatory skills. Manual dexterity of hands and feet to ambulate 10-11 ½ hours per 12 hour-shift and adroitly manage multiple pieces of equipment/tubes/invasive lines. Must be able to stand for extended periods and do a great deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue. Must have high energy level and be capable of handling high-pressure situations. Exposure to communicable disease or radiation exists.
Mental Demands:
Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels associated with the care of acute patient/family, rapidly changing patient conditions, and the emotional demands of patients and families. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required. Must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
